Music Teacher
Miss Burns graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a Bachelor's of Music degree, and Northern Illinois University with a Master's of Music Degree. This is her 27th year teaching music! She has taught all levels of music, including middle school and high school band, middle school and high school choir, private flute lessons, and general music for grades K-6.
Miss Burns is originally from Illinois, near Chicago. She moved to Texas in 2013 and loves it here (and does not miss the -90 degree windchills)!
She likes to play the flute, read, and crochet. She is also an animal lover, and has had dogs, birds, and cats. Her favorite color is purple! Miss Burns is very excited about teaching music at Western Hills ES.
Ms. Lopez
Hi, Welcome to Western Hills Elementary School! My name is Carolina Lopez, and I will be your Art teacher. Originally from Fort Worth, I received my Bachelor of Visual Arts Teaching K-12 at St. Catherine University, St. Paul, Minnesota. I am excited to make lots of fun and amazing art this year, while getting to know every student. I spend my free time making my own art, earrings, and spending time with my family, friends, and dog.
Miss Hernandez
My name is Stormi Hernandez. I am a product of FWISD, I am part of the first graduating class of the Young Women’s Leadership Academy. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from The University of Texas at San Antonio in May of 2020. I studied hard to be a P.E. teacher and I feel blessed to be living out my dream job. I enjoy spending my free time with my dog and my family. I am excited about being a BRONCO!
